ED questions 4 teachers in Bengal recruitment scam over links with TMC leader Jeevankrishna Saha

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its probe into the Bengal teacher recruitment scam by summoning four teachers, including Murshidabad resident Madhumita Mandal, for questioning. The agency suspects their involvement based on financial links traced to arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jeevankrishna Saha.

According to officials, evidence suggests a close association between Saha and these teachers, with records pointing to financial transactions. Investigators questioned them on how their contact with Saha began, the source of funds exchanged, and their possible role during the recruitment process.

ED sources said the name of Madhumita Mandal surfaced first during the probe, after suspicious financial records raised concerns that scam money may have directly reached teachers. The agency is also examining whether the accused used illicit funds for personal gains.

The teacher recruitment scam has already led to multiple arrests, with ED officials claiming to have uncovered a wider network of beneficiaries. The latest questioning is seen as a step toward establishing how deep the alleged financial nexus runs between political leaders and educators.
